Cerberus Taps Ex-U.S. Ambassador Fick for Senior Role

New York - Private equity giant Cerberus Capital Management has appointed former U.S. Ambassador Nathaniel Fick as a senior managing director, the firm announced on Monday.

In this high-profile role, Fick will focus on Cerberus' global investment activities across its private equity and venture capital strategies. The move underscores Cerberus' efforts to bolster its geopolitical expertise and international deal sourcing capabilities.

Fick brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as the U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan from 2017 to 2020. Prior to his diplomatic posting, he held senior positions at the Center for a New American Security think tank and was the CEO of cybersecurity firm Endgame.

"Nathaniel's distinguished career in public service and the private sector make him an ideal fit to help drive Cerberus' continued global expansion," said Cerberus CEO Steve Feinberg in a statement. "His insights and relationships will be invaluable as we pursue new investment opportunities around the world."

Cerberus, which manages over $50 billion in assets, has been actively deploying capital globally in recent years. The firm has made high-profile investments in sectors ranging from financial services to real estate, healthcare, and defense.

Fick's appointment comes at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty. Investors are closely watching how private equity firms navigate the challenging macroeconomic environment and seek out pockets of opportunity.

"I'm excited to join the Cerberus team and leverage my experience to help identify and execute on compelling investment theses globally," said Fick. "Cerberus has a long track record of driving value through complex, cross-border transactions."

The addition of Fick is the latest high-profile hire for Cerberus, which has been bolstering its bench of senior investment professionals. In 2021, the firm brought on former Blackstone executive Judith Hannigan as a senior managing director focused on real estate.
